Angela Terry

Angela Terry MSc MEI is the founder of the environmental education charity One Home: Climate Solutions, the UK's first one-stop shop on climate action for citizens providing independent advice on adapting to and preventing global warming .

Angela was voted Net Zero Energy Pioneer in 2024 at the Green Energy Awards and is an environmental scientist with over 30 years' experience in renewable energy, forestry and water quality.

Angela regularly appears in broadcast and print media explaining the benefits of clean technology and how to stay safe during extreme weather in a practical and engaging way.

Knowing what steps to take to save the planet can appear complicated or expensive. As a mum and a consumer Angela explains the changes everyone can make to cut their carbon footprint and crucially save money in the process.

Angela is one of the original pioneers of community renewables, developing schemes including Westmill Wind Farm Co-op, the first community-owned wind farm in the South East of England. She has worked in sustainable forestry as Head of Wood Fuel for the Forestry Commission and contributed to the development of the UK Renewable Energy Strategy. She also worked as a carbon scientist in New Zealand. Angela was a co-founder of the global initiative Count Us In, which aims to mobilise people around the world to take simple, practical steps to reduce carbon pollution set up with Ted Talks.

Angela's strong belief is that we urgently need a public education and engagement campaign to promote climate solutions and tackle the biggest issue we face as a society.

Public opinion undoubtedly supports clean technologies as do the majority of businesses, institutions and charities. The solutions for a swift and drastic shift to a low carbon economy already exist and are cost comparable and even cheaper than polluting alternatives. What is missing is the urgency to accelerate the changes required to protect our way of life.

The clean energy transition will only happen through strong leadership in Government with support from businesses, schools, communities and councils working in collaboration.
